DJ Smallz “The Best Thing Smokin” Vol. 16

Release Date: July 22, 2008

Album: The Best Thing Smokin Vol. 16 Mixtape

Rating: N/A

Review: Two principles apply to this sixteenth installment of DJ Smallz “Best Thing Smokin” series: 1. We have heard just about everything on the tape before and 2. Everything is still fire. By our best estimates, the tape dropped in late July (circa 22nd), way too late to have not one, but two A Millie remixes on it. The first track on the tape is titled A Millie Freemix, which was released by Wayne exactly one month ago to thank his fans for helping him sell 1.5 million copies of “Tha Carter III”. To give you an idea of the fire, but not new or exclusive material, that is contained on this tape: DJ Khaled’s Out Here Grindin remix, Fat Joe featuring Lil Wayne and The Game’s Aint Sayin Nothin remix, Rick Ross featuring Shawty Lo and Birdman’s This Is The Life remix, Mannie Fresh featuring Lil Wayne’s Im A Get Mine… and the list continues. The tape does “break” a few tracks though, such as B.G., Juvenile, Lil Wayne and Trey Songz’ Ya Heard Me. Check out Get Down with Pharrell and Rick Ross. Another really gangster track is Yung Joc’s Boo Koo, who learns us that “anything you got a lot of… we say boo koo.” Everyone from the South is on the tape, the artist list reads like a who’s who of Southern hip-hop: Wayne, T.I., Swizz Beatz, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Shawty Lo, Birdman, Ross, Luda, Chamillionaire, David Banner, Mannie Fresh, B.G., Juve, Young Buck, Akon, Busta Rhymes, Yo Gotti, Gucci Mane, Soulja Boy, Lil Boosie, Webbie, Kells, and Plies. The tape is loaded… 25 tracks, most of them bangers. The front half of the tape is especially heavy and overall this is a nice offering from DJ Smallz, who always delivers heat to the Florida streets. Don’t miss it.
