Rick Ross “This Is The Life” Mixtape

Release Date: August 6, 2008

Album: This Is The Life Mixtape

Rating: N/A

Review: We found Rick Ross’ “This Is The Life: The Life And Times Of Rick Ross” tape circulating in both digital and physical format so we thought we’d give it a review. The tape has 37 tracks consisting mostly of 1 to 2 minutes teasers, a few of which may appear on the bosses upcoming album “Deeper Than Rap.” There are also many short freestyles and remixes. Most of Ross’ new stuff is on here including Ridin Thru The Ghetto, This Is The Life Remix featuring Shawty Lo, Lil Wayne & Flo Rida and #1 On The Charts. The issue we have with the tape is that the tracks are so ridiculously short that the older stuff like Out Here Grindin isn’t a preview or an exclusive but just a 59 second cut of an old song and the new stuff doesn’t even ride long enough to allow fans or DJs to pick out the fire and start building hype… which is really the only point of mixtapes; Well, that and to thank the fans. That said, there isn’t really a bad track on the tape. Ross gates in front of a variety of production on the tape and kills it all. C.O. or not, the dude can flat-out ride a beat. This tape is worth checking out if your a die-hard Ross fan. Otherwise, wait for something more official from the boss.
